This event is coming up quick! If you haven't signed up yet, get on it!
Here's a copy of a note I'm posting on other forums:
Something else you might want to do is come down and run on the surface for set-up purposes....and see the site for yourself/acclimatize yourself so to speak....before coming down for the Canadian Nats. The surface is probably the most grippy and smooth surface in the province so your car set-up including tire pressures might be different than what you normally run. Also the courses will tend to be longer and faster than you might be accustomed to so that would be important to experience beforehand so you can adjust your driving accordingly.
You have the advantage of living close by so you can do that. It is really quite a nice drive - just two short sections of construction....divided highway all the way down and much, much less traffic than going north on Hwy 2. The weather tends to be a bit warmer and drier as well....and windier although the wind doesn't seem to be like I remember it being years ago when I lived down there.
Events coming up include events at Fort Macleod by SASC and LSCC (Lethbridge Sports Car Club):
Saturday, Aug. 6 - SASC
Sat. Aug. 20 - LSCC event at Fort Macleod
Sun. Aug. 21 - SASC event at Fort Macleod
There are other events around that you might want to consider just to get some competition in - BC Champs on Aug. 12-14 at Pitt Meadows (good event and competition -helps you figure out your "competition" mode) and ASA at Namao this coming weekend....Aug. 7 - but you have to sign up for these - esp. Namao with the military regulations and requirements for getting on the base (but worth it - to get time on a large course with bigger sweepers and such).
Something else: A couple of people from the Seattle area were asking questions and expressed intentions of coming up for the Cdn. Nationals so the event is starting to come together with competitors already signed up from Victoria, Vancouver, Kelowna, Regina and Winnipeg to mention a few places......so looking good......don't miss it!!!
This is an excellent opportunity for those us living close by and should not be missed since it does not come around too often.
Something else I should mention is that this event is not for "experienced" or "fully-prepared" autoxer's only! If you just joined the club(s) or even if not, please, by all means, jump in there! This is for everyone (no special entry requirements beyond a regular local event)! For most coming it will be a new experience with 3 days of "happenings", test and tune Friday, meals (included in the entry fee - so it's actually not that expensive considering what you are getting!), and two full days of competition with your best time from each day added up to get your final time and placing......and, of course, if you do well, there will be trophies (also we are talking of cash prizes), jackets and T-shirts ... There will be media coverage, of course - newspapers and even TV coverage may happen (we have had a TV producer inquire about the event and would like to do a special on it).
So there's a lot happening and there is nothing stopping you from entering, including inexperience! So hop to it! There's much to experience and learn.....and never mind all the cool and well-prepared cars coming to the event - including the world's fastest autox car - the Vancouver Special! That should be enough attraction in and of itself: You can compare your times to what Joe runs!
Sign-up can be done on Karelo - like normal - just follow the link from the web site mentioned above!

Today is it for early registration. Save yourself a few bucks if you can ... Of course you can still register after this date though.
Make sure you come out since this is a chance for you to see how you compare to competitors from Victoria, Vancouver, Kelowna, Saanich, Winnipeg, Edmonton and other places inbetween.
This kind of event does not come around very often so take advantage of the opportunity to participate. Note also that this is not "for the pros" but rather for everyone. There is no special qualifications involved.
Also, for the cost it is a good deal - since there is a test and tune on Friday and then two days of competition on a full-sized course (for those of you who have not been to Fort Macleod, there is a lot of asphalt there and the courses will be substially longer than you may be accustomed to ... very smooth with good grip).
The opportunity to see other well-prepared drivers and cars is also something to take in.
Not competitive? Don't worry ... only one out of every class wins anyway. There is simply a lot more to the sport than that!
If your registered for the pre-registration, then the cost is about $30 per timed event plus you get a banquet to socialize at!
So, don't miss out - make sure you come out!
