The RDSCC organizes several different types and levels of performance driving schools for members and guests.
Usually held in the before the start of our auto-x season, these schools are excellent events to learn about your car and develop your driving skills.
Our instructors can help you understand what a car feels like when it is pushed over its limits. We do this with a series of exercises that allow you to develop good driving habits. We take each student through a Police style training course. During this course we will help you understand how understeer and oversteer changes the dynamics of your car.
We will look at the importance of weight transfers, establishing smooth inputs, the importance of a plan of action, visualization skills, the art of anticipation, what to do during aggressive braking, and reverse driving.
We will again be running a driving school to start the season. It will be May 7,8, 2011 at Penhold, and is designed for folks with some experience with autoslalom. The first day will be learning skills such as braking, turn arounds, finding lines, car control, car set up, while the second day will be incorporating those skills onto a course, which will be timed. The maximum number of students will be 15, and there will be 3 instructors from our club, with several members being mentored so that they could assist in the future. Cost is $200 before Jan 1, and $250 thereafter. If it is not full from our club by March 1, then it will be opened to the other clubs.
For the dates at Stratotech please contact Terry Johns directly, as they are not organized by the club, but are offered to our club by Terry. You should have all been receiving those emails from Terry, but if you have not, then contact Fred and I will make sure you connect. From last year’s events we discovered that Mustangs and Cadillacs can eat brakes!
